BMW Group announced that Stefan Gerhoisser has taken over the company’s American Technology Office in Mountain View, California (Silicon Valley). He succeeded Klaus Dörrer, who will now oversee the development of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant and other in-car digital technologies. The appointment took effect on August 1.
The Mountain View technology office is one of several strategically located BMW R&D centers worldwide. It focuses on analytics, identifying new technologies, and collaborating with key partners for future BMW products and services.
Gerhoisser has been with BMW since 2008, starting as an IT specialist in South Carolina. For the past three and a half years, he led the Digital Experience department, including the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. This appointment returns him to a full-time position in the U.S.
Dörrer, who joined BMW in 1996, moved to the U.S. in 2022, where he headed the American Technology Office and managed projects in augmented reality, AI, e-mobility, and battery technologies.
